Bomb scare at Metro station in Delhi

Panic was triggered in a metro station in the national capital this afternoon when its officials received an anonymous phone call threatening to blow up the facility.

The Delhi Metro officials received the threat call at around 1 pm (IST) that bombs were placed in the Chaawri Bazar metro station and it would be blown up.

Bomb disposal teams and dog squads were rushed to the spot to conduct searches at the underground metro station.

"We are conducting searches and simultaneously trying to identify the caller," a senior police official said. Train movement was halted for about eight minutes for conducting checks.

Passengers said the train movement was very slow and there were long queues at the metro station.

This is the third time in a week's time that the station received the bomb threat calls. The calls on May 25 and 26 were declared a hoax after extensive security checks.

The Delhi Police had on May 15 received a phone call from an unidentified caller threatening to blow up Sai Baba

Temple in South Delhi, which later turned out to be hoax after intensive searches.
