Bike-borne snatchers robbed Rs 1 lakh on G.T. Road

HOWRAH: Bike-borne snatchers robbed Rs 1 lakh from a Howrah resident on the crowded GT Road on Wednesday morning. The gang is suspected to have been involved in several such robberies.
Pranab Sengupta of Shibpur’s Dharpara Lane had gone to the Shalimar branch of Punjab National Bank around 11 am to withdraw money for his daughter’s wedding. He came out within 15 minutes and boarded a rickshaw at Betaitola More.
Suddenly, a bike sped up and blocked the path. The pillion rider lunged forward and snatched the money bag from Sengupta and sped off along Andul Road. Police feel a particular gang is operating in Shibpur and its adjacent areas.
