Trinamool Congress protests against petrol price hike

Kolkata, Feb 17 (ANI): Trinamool Congress activists took out processions and blocked roads across West Bengal on Sunday to protest against petroleum price hike.Party leader Mamta Banerjee, who led the procession at Hazra crossing, condemned the Centre for burdening the common man by raising petroleum and diesel prices.
“Prices of essential commodities were skyrocketing and this hike would have cascading effects,” she said.
Earlier, Banerjee had called the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)-led protest against fuel price hike as ‘drama,’ saying that the Central Government had hiked the prices after consulting the CPI-M.According to the police, there was very little affect of road blockades in the city.
“Only three places in the city had minor blockade for 15 minutes,” police said.
However, blockade at the busy Howrah Bridge by the Trinamool Congress supporters had led to traffic snarl. (ANI)
