The motive behind the murder couldn't be ascertained. No one was arrested in this connection. Police said, a neighbour of the victims rang up Jagacha police station and said he spotted the bodies of Shrabani and her daughter when he had gone to their home around 4 p.m. today. Police officers reached the spot and saw Shrabani lying in a pool of blood. Tithi's body was found lying on the floor of the room which was opened. The bodies were sent to a nearby hospital for autopsy. “Tithi was strangled while the her mother was stabbed in the throat. We are questioning Shrabani's husband, who works in a BPO centre,” said Mr Milan Kanta Das, additional superintendent of police (Town). The officer said, they questioned local residents who failed to provide any leads about the murders. Nothing was found missing from the room. “Shrabani's husband was at his office when the murders took place. We have informed him about the murders and asked him to come to the police station,” said Mr Das. There was tension in the area after the bodies were recovered. Though local people claimed they spotted an empty bottle of liquor lying beside the bodies, police said they have not seized anything from the room. When police officers asked neighbours of the victims whether they had spotted any unknown person entering the house of the victims today, the villagers replied in the negative.
