Organisers have declared that a number of Latin American countries, along with the US, the UK, Scotland, Bangladesh and Spain, will participate in the 10-day Boi Mela 2008 to be held at the Salt Lake stadium grounds from March 1. The main fair office will be a replica of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC.Over 800 stalls will come up in and around 13 acres.This might lead to some difficulties, but the city book lovers are expected to them in their stride.Tapan Roy, the minister in charge of libraries in the state is confident that the event will be hugely successful.The state transport department will operate 100 buses to carry people from 10 focal points in north and south Kolkata to the fairground.Nabanita Dev Sen, who is a part of the 2008 Boi Mela advisory committee said that we would have to make arrangements to prevent pollution so that the fair can be shifted back to Maidan.
