Child crushed as helper takes charge

Eight year old Rohan Das was crushed down by a truck driven by a helper in
Behala.Rohan was riding a bicycle which was presented to him as a birthday
gift.The incident led to a mob fury on Upendra Banerjee Road as local residents
caught hold of the helper and beat him up. A Rapid Action Force (RAF) contingent
was arranged to bring the situation under control. The driver though managed to
give cops the slip. The child, Rohan Das, had ventured out of his house on his
bicycle in the morning. According to eye witness Manisha Das Rohan was waiting
on the other side of the road on his cycle when the truck running at a great
speed knocked him down.The truck was carrying construction material for the
construction going on at the Behala airport. The local residents were waiting
for an accident to happen on that road due to the ongoing construction at the
airport site.The road has ben reduced to half of its width with the construction
materials dumped on both sides of the road.
