Youth found murdered in Kolkata, local fears stoneman
Kolkata: An unidentified youth was found murdered at the Dhobitala Lane near Ritchie Road in the city by the locals today morning. With his head and face smashed beyond recognition, the youth was discovered by the locals lying in a pool of blood. Police sources confirmed that a heavy stone has been used to smash the head of the youth. There was also a deep gash on the chest of the youth who was dressed in cargos and black shirt. The grim condition of the dead body, has brought back the memory of the stoneman, the mysterious killer who lurked around the city streets in the 1980s killing at least 14 pavement dwellers using stone. When questioned about the possible return of stoneman, a police official Rajesh Subarno rubbished it and said that the murder was more a result of altercation. “This is just one murder and just because of the fact that the killer used the stone we cannot speculate that the stoneman has returned” he said. However, the police is still clueless on the reason behind the murder. The locals claimed that the man was new in the area and they have never seen him before. The body of the deceased has been sent for the postmortem.
