Kolkata: Prompt action taken by the Railway Police Force (RPF) and the local residents saved a child from being kidnapped and sold today morning at the NarkelDanga area in the city. The child, Md Imran, was playing in front of his home in the morning. At around 11.30 am when his mother came out to call him for the lunch, she found him missing.

Immediately she raised a hue and cry and a massive manhunt was launched by the local residents. A section of them rushed to the railway station and with the help of the RPF they found the child who was being carried away by a man called Taimur.

“Taimur has been arrested and we suspect he is associated with a child kidnap racket. The child was not kidnapped for money but for being sold to people with vested interest, “ an RPF officer at Sealdah said.
