Top terrorist of Hizbul Mujahideen killed J & K

A joint team of security forces killed top terrorist belonging to pro Pakistan Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit in a fierce gun battle in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir today morning. The Pak ultra was trained in Pakistan and is believed to be one of the longest surviving militant in the region, sources said.

According to Ministry of Defence spokesperson Lt Col SD Goswami, the slain terrorist has been identified as divisional commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, 'Ghulam Hassan Wani alias Shamim Thool'.

Goswami further said that a joint team of security forces, including troops of 26 Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir police, had launched a cordon and search operation in Batyas area in remote Gandoh tehsil of Doda district late Monday night

During the search, police and 26 Rashtriya Rifles troops zeroed in on a hideout and asked inhabitants inside the building to surrender. A fierce encounter soon ensued between the two sides in which a Hizbul divisional commander was killed in the wee hours. “Security forces recovered an AK 47 rifle, pistol, satellite phone, grenades and wireless set from the site of gunfight,” said Goswami.

According to the official sources, Shamim Thool, was closely associated with Sayed Salahuddin, chairman of United Jehad council in PoK, and had received training in terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Khost in Afghanistan.
