Modi on defensive over Aussie invite

BY OUR CORRESPONDENT

Mumbai

Sept. 25: Rajasthan Cricket Association president Lalit Modi, who invited the Australians to use the facilities in Jaipur to train for the upcoming Test series has defended the decision and said that it would help them evaluate the facilities available and also benefit the local players who would be interacting with the Australians.

"There is no big deal if Australians arrive early and train at the RCA. Had the Champions Trophy not been cancelled, even the Australians would have arrived at the last moment," he said.

Modi also pointed out to the fact that it was an honour for the RCA to welcome the Australians as they would evaluate the newly developed facilities and would provide feedback as to how it can be improved.

He said, "They are world class players who are accustomed to world class facilities. So they would provide us with feedback as to how can it be improved.

"Also local players will benefit a lot from their experience. So there is no unfair advantage and it should be seen from the other side as well."

Talking about reports, which suggested that Rajasthan Royals were going public, Modi said, "Yes. They have informed us about going public. It is a good move and I would suggest other franchisees as well to go public, as it would help them make a strong base. It will help them make a good team for the next edition and would benefit everyone."
